Texas Dementia Resources for Families

A short list of trusted Texas starting points: 2-1-1, Area Agencies on Aging, Texas HHS, and Alzheimer's Association.

Texas has more dementia support than most families realize. Here is a short list of the most useful, mostly-free starting points.

2-1-1 Texas

Call 2-1-1 or visit 211texas.org. They connect callers to aging services, caregiver support, food, transportation, and benefits screening.

Area Agencies on Aging (AAA)

Local offices that help with caregiver support, respite, in-home services, and benefits counseling. Your AAA is one of the most useful resources you can find.

Texas HHS long-term care provider search

Look up licensed assisted living, memory care, and nursing facilities — including inspection history.

Alzheimer's Association

24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900. Local chapters run support groups across Texas.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman

Advocates for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Free and independent.

See the Resource Directory for more.
